Advent Parish Mission, “That One Thing” Nov 29 at 7pm

Due to increased Covid19 concerns, this event is now 100% virtual

Watch Our Advent Parish Mission live on Sunday, November 29 at 7pm!

“That One Thing” ……… Featuring Michael Gormley

Michael Gormley, or Gomer, as he’s been known since high school, has been preaching the gospel to Catholic pew-sitters and lapsed alike.
“Nothing prepares a soul for evangelization more than running a high school Confirmation retreat. They don’t want to be there. You’ve stolen their weekend. And you have till Sunday to win them over.” He’s been leading parish and school staff retreats since 2007, and parish missions since 2008. His main concern is bringing Catholics into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through repentance, encountering God in Scripture, and living his faith.

Knights of Columbus Advent Food Drive Dec 5 – 12

The Knights of Columbus, SS. John and Paul council, is having a food drive for the Capuchin Soup Kitchen and St. Aloysius, both servicing the poor in the city of Detroit.  Please consider donating non-perishable  food items to this special collection.  Carts will be located in the Gathering Area to accept your donation.  Or, for your convenience, Knights will be available to unload your donations on Saturday, December 5th and 12th, from 10am – 1pm.

Items needed the most are:  Canned tuna (5 oz), canned chicken (5oz), peanut butter (18 oz), canned soup, canned pasta and canned fruit.

Thank you for your generosity!

G.R.A.C.E. programs online only

The decision was made to no longer offer in-person GRACE Formation. Our program will be remote from now until further notice. Between the governors announcement, the high number of COVID cases in Macomb county, we felt that it would be irresponsible to continue in person at this time. We will update you if anything changes.

Christmas Cards Sale

Religious Christmas Cards will be available for purchase after all masses during the weekends of November 21-22 and December 5-6.  All proceeds from the sales will support the Knights in funding their charitable activities in our local communities. Thank you for your support!

2020 Christmas Sharing Tree Gifts due Nov 29

Our annual Sharing Tree is up with tags from different charities from which to choose.  Listed below is a brief description of each.  Gifts are due November 29.

  • St. Maximillian/St. Francis Outreach: serves those who come to their church seeking assistance with food, clothing and gifts at Christmas and year round.
  • The Samaritan House: is a local organization devoted to serving individuals and families within our community in need of emergency food, utilities and/or rent.
  • Agape Center: is a North Macomb Vicariate resource center.  Their mission is to share their love and resources with our most vulnerable neighbors.  Services include a food pantry and financial assistance.
  • Coats for Kids: their mission is to provide new winter coats to children in need.

Tags to Go!

Catholic Services Appeal 2020

Although the Catholic Services Appeal 2020 is later than normal due to the coronavirus pandemic, a CSA letter and pledge envelope was mailed to registered parishioners. Our parish is already accepting CSA Gifts from donors. You may drop off your check/pledge at our Parish Office or mail to: Archdiocese of Detroit, PO Box 44077, Detroit, MI 48244-9935. Or you may send your pledge via the internet at: www.givecsa.org/

Our Parish Target is $75,640.00, and every dollar over our target stays RIGHT HERE to support our SS. John and Paul programs and activities.  Since we take care of many financial obligations through CSA overages, we ask that each family consider a gift of $400-$500 toward CSA2020.   Thank you and May God Bless You.
